Half-Life 2: Episode One Walkthrough
Chapter 3: Lowlife
After Alyx shuts down the force field impeding you, follow her into the dark area 1.
Keep your flashlight on, but watch your battery consumption. There is
plenty of debris (and some hoppers) in here for you to use against the
zombies. Don't worry about the turrets in the room; they've run out of
ammunition. There is a passage on the far right side of the room. The
powered lock doesn't work, so you need to crawl into the vent that is
across from the door 2. When you reach
the end of the vent, pull out the cover, and use it against the headcrab
that is waiting for you. There are some supplies, as well as a shotgun
and a pistol behind the broken fence.
Use the gravity gun to pull them through the fracture at the top of the fence 3. Check the lockers for more power-ups. Shoot off the lock that is blocking your progress 4.
Activate the power-box in the next room and Alyx will join you. Move
the car that is blocking the exit, then get your flashlight back on.
Using flares, barrels, and gas cans to burn zombies will give you some
additional light. Scour the area, as some extra supplies are in the
corners. Proceed to the train at the end of the room.
Inside the train you will see your first zombine 5.
Just stay away from the glass and you'll be ok. They are tough to put
down, and may rush you with a grenade. You can use your gravity gun to
snatch their grenades, lowering the threat they present. Exit the train
through the crack on the left side, and you're into the next dark area.
Zombines will rush you, so drop them before they get close. As long as
you've got one lit up, Alyx will focus her fire on it. At the far end,
there is a small room, head to it to activate the power box. Once you
activate the box, some zombies will rush in; make sure you nail them
before they get too close. Get out of the room and then head to the exit
on the side of the room. Get up the stairs, but be careful of the
poisoncrabs waiting for you at the top. There are some supplies
available in the lockers. In the next room, activate the crank so you
can keep moving 6. However, as soon as you start turning it, antlions will enter from their burrow.
Use your gravity gun to block the hole with the car that is sitting in the room 7.
Once the hole is blocked, get back to the crank. Alyx should be able to
handle the poisoncrabs that creep in. Some headcrabs will ambush you in
the next room, but Alyx can easily kill them. The next hallway is
filled with barnacles 8. After you make
some headway, zombies and zombies will come at you from the end of the
hall. Let the barnacles take care of them, then flash your light on the
barnacles so Alyx can dispose of them. There are more zombines waiting
you around the corner, so be ready. There are some exploding barrels
that you'll find useful. Enter the double doors.
At the top of the stairs is a narrow hallway that opens into a
parking garage. Kill the zombines quickly, then get to work on covering
all the antlion burrows. The first car you need is already on the ground
floor 9. There is another car up on the second floor; the front half of it tucked into a small room 10.
Use your gravity gun to blast it onto the ground floor. You can push
the antlions over so Alyx can shoot them, or you can run them over with a
tumbling car. The final car is behind a gate, but you can drop behind
the gate from an opening on the third floor 11. There is a zombine waiting in the room, shoot him from above before he wakes.
Crank open the gate, then push the car onto the last burrow. Go back
up to the third floor and open the gate that is blocking your way out of
the parking garage. Head down the stairs and exit into the flooded
room. Zombies and zombines are scattered through the maze-like room, so
get them before they encroach. You'll enter a large room that has an
elevator lit up like a haven in the middle 12.
Alyx will try to activate the elevator, but this causes the power to go
out. Follow the sparking wire throughout the room until you come to a
blocked door.
Use the gravity gun to pull the wooden bars off the door. Active the
power-box, then head back to the elevator and wait for it to arrive.
Zombies (slow and fast) and zombines will swarm, so keep your light on
them, and use all the explosive barrels and gas cans that you can for
more light. There are supplies scattered throughout the corners of the
room if you find yourself in need. Get in the elevator as soon as you
can, and enjoy a respite.
