Dr. Magnussonr
The boss from hell
Pompous and arrogant, Magnusson is regardless a vital asset to the
Resistance. Having worked at Black Mesa during the Resonance Cascade
Incidence, he was a rival to Doctor Kleiner for grant money and works
alongside him, albeit with reluctance and constant complaint. Though
stubborn and short-tempered, he is a scientific genius and dedicated to
stopping the Combine, providing the player with advice and even a new
toy to help destroy Striders. |

Griggs and Sheckley
The odd couple of the Resistance
These two Resistance fighters are found deep in the Antlion caverns and
guard a small outpost near to the core of the hive. Griggs is the leader
of the two and the most confident, whilst Sheckley is much more
pessimistic, often jumping to conclusions and declaring doom upon all
before a fight has even begun. Nevertheless they will prove useful in
the fight against the Antlions. |

Vortigaunts
Mystical Xen aliens with the power of electricity at their fingertips
Although encountered in previous instalments, Episode 2 is the first
time the Vortigaunts fight alongside you. Their electrical attacks have
been upgraded since the Black Mesa invasion, with a powerful area attack
that can stun several Antlions at once for Gordon to destroy. They can
also charge Freeman's HEV suit, along with otherwise broken machinery,
which can allow the player to progress. It also seems that they are
capable of other-worldly powers, having saved Gordon and Alyx from the
clutches of the G-Man, as well as possessing incredible powers of
revival. |
