    Rocket Launchers

In the new version 1.0 full release, rocket launchers were added to certain maps, they do the same job as explosive packs. They are used to complete destruction objectives such as destroying the flak cannon on para_glider. They are also used to clear shortcuts on maps such as dod_caen.

In 1.0 the following 3 rocket launchers were included:

    • The British Piat
    • The German Panzer
    • The US Bazooka

All three are pretty much the same, so it doesn't matter which you use. The thing I have noticed is that barely anyone uses them. I usually see 1-2 guys using it a map, and they only use it for objectives. What I realized, is that it is like a grenade, except it has a smaller blast radius, and it can be propelled.

There are only 3 ways to kill someone with it, (1) a direct hit will kill almost anyone, no matter what the health. (2) a splash damage hit will barely kill anyone unless they have low health. (3) you blow up an objective with people near it.

Every assault squad in DoD should have a rocket launcher with them. When it comes to blowing up a deployed mg'er, a Rocket gets the job done faster than a grenade. if you see a sniper shooting from a window, and nobody in your squad has a rifle, shoot this baby in. This weapon also makes a good distraction weapon, a simple rocket into a building can clear out a whole squad of enemies, who think they are under fire from grenades. Another way is if there is an alley with a lot of snipers and enemies aiming there, and your team needs to get from one of the buildings, to the other side of the alley, sneak around and shoot the rocket down the alley. The trail of smoke makes good cover for your team to cross through into the other building. Written by: Sgt. Weedwacker

    Melee Weapons

In the full release, there are several close range weapons:
    • German bayonet
    • British Bayonet
    • US Garand Rifle Butt
    • Standard US knife
    • US para knife
    • German Spade
    • German para knife

Most of the time you will have either the Spade or the US standard knife, if you use a rifle class, then you will mostly have the German bayonet, or the US rifle butt. Most of these will kill in 1-2 quick hits. Any close quarters melee weapon will kill easy if hit against a chest, back, or head. any arm/leg hits will take longer. The best strategy for these weapons is to take back routes behind snipers, mg's, and riflemen. Once you are discovered, keep moving and hide in the shadows, when someone passes, run out. they wont hear you because they are running too, to close the gap, dash and stop right behind them and whack em.

Another good strategy is what I call the spade and nade. The best class to use is the grenadier or the strosstrupe (or whatever its called). You should always run in the shadows with your spade drawn out. Use you'r first grenade on heavy troops, and kill any survivors in the shadowy areas with your spade. Here you have your first option, using the nade to kill troops far away, or kamikaze into heavy lines. To kamikaze you have to throw the nade at your feet, pick it up with the use key, then run right into a crowded area. If you don't get shot to death, you will kill yourself, along with several enemies. if they do shoot you, they will get struck down by your grenades wrath. Written by: Sgt. Weedwacker

    Objective Survival

With the addition of rocket launchers to DoD, the mod team couldn't help but add more objectives to be blown to little bits. That's where objectives such as tanks, more flaks, and sandbags are thrown into the mess. What is strange is that not enough players take risks. If a rocket is flying at your objective, I see my own teammates run away. This is stupid, it’s better to take the blast, and when you die, you'll have saved an objective.

Nobody does this. Everyone just runs out of the way shooting everywhere. The best way to save an objective is to take the bullet. in maps such as dod_charlie, where teammates must stand at an objective waiting for the bomb to plant, they are left wide open. Standing near him and shooting everywhere isn’t a good idea either. The best idea is to use yourself as a human shield while the objective is being captured.

Some people don't like to die a lot, but if you take that rocket or that bullet, your team will love you, and you will succeed. Written by: Sgt. Weedwacker
